To start off: what is an avatar?
It's the little image under your name when you post.
To change it, follow these simple steps:
First of all, go to you profile page by clicking Profile in the upper menu:
Then, on your profile page, click on modify profile:
Then, where it says "Avatar" select one from the pulldown menu.
If you like your own avatar, and it is on the internet already, you can enter the address for it in the "Avatar URL" box.
The height and width are optional, but I would recommend using it.
Keep in mind, the avatar can only be 100x100 pixels, no larger.
