What it says in the title - Wee Norman is living up to the first part of his name by weeing all over my boots! I've decided there's no point in recoring the current rad as all the mounts are knackered, it's been held on by one bolt, the in/out pipes and 2 cable ties for the last year .... So, anyone got one lying around, or do I give Mr Honda d**n near £300 for a new one? Alternatively, has anyone had any dealings with these boys over in "We copy anything" land - Chinese radiator copy on t'bay. Anything?

My favourite 2nd-hand parts dealer, over on this side of the channel has a few: This is a link to his websiteHe will reply to mails in english. I've bought several parts from him in the past & haven't been disappointed yet. GvS

Thanks for that GvS, looks like he's got 2, one with a missing tab and one with 'bent louvres' (that's what Google translate says anyway) - either one would be infinitely better than the religious one I've got (it's very holey ....... sorry!). I've got feelers out to several breakers yards, so I'll throw him into the pot and then it's a case of the first one to get back to me with the right price gets the business.
Cheers.

Hi Slug, yeah the chinky one looks good, but 3 weeks to get it is stretching my patience a bit ..... I've got feelers out to GvS's mate in Dutchland, a guy down in Kent who had the usual "Bid 99p for a bolt, or contact me for more" ebay ad and my local breakers in Aberdoom (Breaking Point, good guys) - we'll see who comes up with the right goodies in the right time at the right price. At the minute, Kent is ahead by a nose, but there's always room for a late arrival.
Recoring isn't an option as the frame is completely FUBAR'ed - top mount went to dust long before I got the bike (cable ties are wunnerful, aren't they?), one of the two bottom mounts is fractured, then you've got the cause of the holes - bottom fan mount fractured allowing the fan retaining ring to clatter against the rad, wearing some lovely holes as it went ....
Watch this space.

Update - the guy from Kent e-mailed me this morning with pics of a very bent radiator - it's like a banana, honest! Decent bloke, could've just sent it up anyway then denied all knowledge, so big thumbs up for ANC Motorcycles aka pricedtosell of Maidstone.
The ones from Dutchland are both damaged, according to Joost, and Breaking Point have gone quiet, sooooooo ..... "Herro, China! Prease send me one ladiator, chop chop!", they reckon 2-3 weeks so I'll be back with an update then.
Thankfully, I got the lad's Bandit 600 MOT'ed today, so I'm not without transport - he's got his car and will not be riding for a while as he'll be otherwise engaged (daughter-in-law due to make me a granddad mid-December!) - just have to adapt to redlines on the far side of 10,000, bugger all low down torque and less than bugger all engine breaking. Oh, the hardship!

UPDATE: This arrived yesterday: Can you tell which is the old knackered rad and which is the shiny new one? Quality seems top notch, I'm very impressed with what they've done for less than a fifth of the cost of the Honda part. Of course, the real proof is when it gets nailed onto the bike and run up to temperature and pressure ... this is Scotland in winter, so that test won't be happening for a few months yet - watch this space.

Even with new rubbers too, shame about the human rights though....

.... and here's the end product: While I had the front end exposed I thought I'd give the manky downtubes a spruce up, so the ol' black Hammerite came out, then the radiator cover looked really scabby and the only plastic paint I had in the shed was gold so .... Looks not bad in the flesh, this gold radiator hanging there in a sea of black, of course it will only take one Scottish winter to revert back to it's usual state of neglect abuse patina, but until then .... Points to note on the Chinese radiator:- 4 fixing points for the fan mount which only needs 3, the bottom one didn't quite line up but I just drilled an extra hole in the mounting bracket, no problem. The screw holes in the sides for the cover are a tiny bit out of alignment, the screws I had on mine were fecked anyway, so I just replaced them with stainless machine screws and spacers to pack out any difference. The rubbers on the top mount clash with the rubbers on the frame tube, just cut 'em in half and stick the outer halves back on with a washer for support. That's all the difficulties I encountered, which for a saving of £230 was well worth it!
