Returned home yesterday, the end of 5 hard days riding.
Our plan was to go together in a small group as this would give us more time to stop and look at stuff. WRONG
Too Many Miles in each Leg = Very little time to stop. Lesson learnt. Some sections were more like an endurance ride.
Day 1
Poole to Dunkirk via the Tunnel rained almost all the way. I stayed dry thanks to lots of rain gear and my hand guards. (Best £17 quid I have spent in a long time)
M27 - M3 - M25 - M20 - Tunnel
The view of my tent (Gelert - Mongoose 2) prior to fitting the fly sheet, showing the two pole. Next stage is to attach the flyshhet with a few ribbons then peg it down. Hence it goes up in around 12 minutes. I did take some kitchen roll to dry the tent if I had to pitch in the rain. I got lucky as it was always dry when we pitched or broke camp.
We camped at a very friendly site at the back of Dunkirk beach.

Day 2
Dunkirk to Honfleur on many damp B roads. That said the experience was good and the sun came out just before Honfleur which made for a nice evening wandering round the old town.

Day 3
Honfleur to Poole via the Ferry again on B roads with a few stops the highlight for me being the cliff top overlooking the Mulberry harbours. To see the shear scale of the project was worth the trip. I was not sure about taking an old bike to France, I need not have worried she ran like a dream. Underline when we met the British two stroke club on a selection of much older bikes.
Managed to sleep all the way back on the Ferry, not a boat fan.. GvS found me a sick bag to help Git.
Day 4
Poole to Folkestone
A272 and finally some dry road. Need I say more. That said by the time we reached Folkestone I was stuffed.
Day 5
Folkestone to Poole
M20 - M25 - A3 (tempted by the A272 again) but overcame that and headed for home and a hot bath.
