Hi everyone,
I'm new to this site so this is my first post so hopefully it will work ok. I have a 1992 NTV 650 which is my daily ride to and from work, I recently bought a 2001 Deauville as its replacement and when I picked it up I found that the indicators work when pushed to the direction you wish to manouvre to but stop as soon as you release the switch, because of this and a couple of other minor faults I decided to run the NTV until its MOT expires in January and fix the faults on the deauville in the meantime. riding to work the last couple of days the NTV has now started to have the same indicator fault, works ok when held on but wont latch which is a bit dangerous in this weather as I often want to indicate and manouvre at the same time. Is this a common Honda fault, can it be fixed or am I looking at replacing the left hand switchgear?

I've never heard of this problem before, but I think it's not an electrical problem, but a mechanical one (inside the switch). Have you tried to undo the screws of the switchgear, just a few turns untill it's open just a bit. Then squirts some WD-40 in there (with the supplied straw), while you operate the switch.

I can actually confirm this problem....my Revere has the same problem. While riding I found out that holding the switch in place works, but the next day it didn't Fix: clear out the switch and dry it out. Well, that works for a while. My Revere only started showing this problem from the moment it got moved out of the shed and now lives under a simple plastic protection. So I think it's due to the weather.... Perhaps replacing the switch with a completely new one would fix it permanently.....but to expensive for me

seems to be intermitant, riding home today it wasnt so cold but wet and the problem (on the ntv) dissapeared, going to try opening the switch gear tomorrow and giving it a good spray of WD40 and see how that goes, seems like a simple problem but can be extremly dangerous when performing those quick lane changes thinking you have indicated but havent.
