Being all of 6'3", with long legs (38" inside) and a previous owner of a Bros 400, then a 600 & now currently owning a Revere 600; I've always found the seat to low, so......
I gaffa taped a piece of impact foam on top of the original seat to give me an extra inch or three.
This has led to my bike looking scruffier that it actually is (or want to be), sooo...
I decided to give re-covering a go, que purchase of some BLACK VINYL Textured Faux Leather FABRIC
The tools you will need include:
Seat, new covering, puller-outer, sticker on'er, cutter up-er & a gun.
Lets look at the result of MkI & the copious amounts of gaffa tape to be removed:
hmm.....sticky residue:
This is the foam piece which was taped on top of the MkI. Made from impact foam found in large flight cases for transporting electronics.
After a little re-shaping, (based on what I felt might be more comfortable) I got it looking like a mini-vest for Bruce Willis to wear;
Stuck the mini-vest to the seat with the sticky stuff, then stuffed the covering on top with more sticky stuff:
Temporarily shot it four times with the gun before I go gattling on it:
The edges were giving me grief & causing overlaps & stretch marks:
I think I've sussed it - this is after a fair bit of naughty juice, so it's not very neat:
The final product:
Well, I know it's no Corbin, but it cost me £6 and a hours entertainment.
I see a few eagle-eyed watchers noticed that I didn't remove the original covering or use the pulley-out'er, well...I'll confess: I looked at the previous staples, all rusty and stuck in there all nice an tight, I couldn't be arsed.
One day I'll get it done by a pro, but for now;" A job half-arsed and done drunk is a job well, ummmmm.....done?"
