My ntv650 has a rather large fairing which has been really useful during the summer we have been having, but tonight I nearly cooked my right leg Apart from removing the lowers and bellypan when its hot will it be ok to wrap the downpipes? its a motad system if that helps

I wrapped mine purely for cosmetic reasons as the pipes are 100% functional but looking rather scruffy. I bought a 10 metre kit from eBay which did the trick. Fitting was a 20 minute job, although I would recommend making it a 25 minute job by finding a pair of marigolds. It's woven from fibreglass so inevitable that the non glove wearer will get bits stuck and suffer discomfort until he has sat for half an hour with dangled hands in a bowl of water Check my most recent posts on the MRA Vario Screen for some views of the bike with the tape fitted. Well that went well, wrapped the pipes, after about 5 mins tickover and a few hundred yards, a warm burning smell was following my, so heading home -fast- i arrived with a plume of smoke following me, the wrap had gone very dark and kinda burnt colour, so I grabbed a sharp knife ad cut it off. The pain was that it looked good!!!! Ray
