What's your grand plan ?
I've been looking into the Qt5 framework and Python OS version, could be usefull for developing TV out apps maybe ?
I've been wondering what the quality of the Font rendering is gonna be...

I have seen them playing video and Quake. TV pc could be fun. Although they will run Windows 7. I think I will have a bash at LINUX. Basically no hard plans just saw it at launch on CLick and thought £30 delivered had to be worth a go.

Gotta remember its Quake game from 2000 its probably just about equivalent to an old 486 PC from then. Quicktime was the big media player of choice back then.
I think for £35 squid there is gonna be alot of disappointed punters (used to dual core+performance) and therefore lots listed on eBay by the end of the year !
I think it is going to like the BBC micro of the mid 80's. Cost £449 as I remember and outside of "10 PRINT 'YOU SMELL' COLOUR RND 4;" and playing chuckie egg, was a bit of a niche machine. A bit boring and nerdy.

"A bit boring and nerdy" May be the case but I think for its target market ie schools IT. Providing the teachers can get hold of some training and good classroom material. They are cheap enough to give to the kids as a project platform. As ever lots of hard disk space and processing power makes a developer lazy. They do seem to have gone viral currently, lets hope that it will help keep the company going. I the mean time it will be fun to play. and if you take out the postage it only cost about the same as 4 magazines. Ok I need my phone charger to power it and an old SD card for the hard drive on and a wireless keyboard and mouse at some point. Bargain then Then again who would spend so much time on a 20 year old bike ;D

Talking of magazines have you seen this link for the 'free to download' magazine MagPi. Its this sort of thing that will help it go viral. www.raspberrypi.org/archives/1162Don't get me wrong the Idea is great especially to us old farts who remember typing in 300 lines of code out of a book into the ZX81 to have it not run and spend the whole weekend trying to debug the syntax and then the 16k ram pack being knocked and the whole thing disappearing. The 80's we didn't have much to do ! I'm a big Linux freak so if you have any problems I might be able to help maybe. I'm still trying to get to grips with my £20 Arduino Uno !

Off to read the mag. Thanks for the link. What is you plan for the Arduino Uno? It looks even smaller

The original plan for the arduino was as a cheap remote data logger for temperature gathering.
However been problems from the outset.
- Arduino board sucks to much power will go through a set of batteries in about a week, need to be mains wired (adds to project cost). - No inbuilt Real Time Clock (RTC) so it would be a fudge to add the timestamp function. Each time the powers goes the software clock would get reset. - Got a RTC add on that add this function, has its own CR2030 battery but still another £7 on the price. Was hoping the Arduino board would do it all to keep costs down.
Actually thinking about it now this is make the raPi look compitive on price !

Nothing sensible or constructive to add on this fascinating thread Other than to wonder if the Raspberry has a spell checker and can spell "ordered" ;D
