Also very keen on the Conti TKC80, and they are supposedly releasing it with a 120/70-17 front in "June 2012" - but can't find any other info and nobody has them in stock yet. I've emailed Continental and see what they say... They already do a 160/60-17 rear...

Feck you`ll be in the ditch before you`ll ride on those tread blocks! By the way folks, if you go up in trye width you`ll lose the flickability you might enjoy on the stock sizes. The wider the tyres the slower to turn in.

Agreed, don't go for completely knobbly tyres! It's like riding a tyre thats a series of flat edges rather than a curve. Handy off road, but it will be unbearable for 80% of your riding! The Metzeler Tourances look pretty ideal to me.

Well, Continental have responded. The TKC80 Twinduro in 120/70-17 goes into production in July so won't be available until August. So too late for this project, but certainly a fun tyre to consider for the NTV in future Standard equipment on the 1200GS so can't be too bad....

And I bet many of the "1200GS's" never see mud

I use the TKC80s on my xt600e, good tyre on road but the rear gets crap mileage best Ive had was just over 5K! If you do want to take your bike on the green lanes they are 'ok' as long as its dry and no real challenges (I keep a spare set of wheels with 'full knoblies' fitted). However your bike will get destroyed without mods to the suspension travel.... As for 160 rear, I always had a 160 fitted, it always turned in fast for me! ;D

I like this style... & that works... Well! Your lines compliment the style nicely.
I still rate your exhaust pipe guard/cover. With that colour contrast, it is; (To me.) eye catching & a draw. It's suits the overall finish; I really like it...
I can see the front lamp is not affixed yet. (But location looks proportionate for bike.)

Looks sweet! Im not sold on the downpipes, I think it'd look even more sweet all black with just the shock to contrast, but bare metal like the 2 into 1 link pipe would look cool, so just wire brushed and then lacquered or sealed or something? Love the headlight position if thats MOTable?

Is that a dullville front brake rotor and caliper? Yes its the early Brembo with a slight mod to the bracket, tho as yet unproven as theres no pads yet!

Hmmm, looking good and bound to be an improvement on the Honda caliper. Interesting beasty behind the Honda, what is that a Husqvarna or a KTM lump, something else? Weird raked frame, bobber project of sorts?
