Thanks for that - kind of reinforces my current diagnosis, i.e. I need to get my head around trusting the side stand. In theory, it's better than the centre stand for spread of contact points..... ...getting there..... Why don't you (carefully) try to pull it over, when it's parked on the side stand. I often think that it's in danger of falling over, but when I push or pull a bit, it's surprizingly stable. GvS

Good point! I did just that, and found it remarkably stable. In other centrestand developments, the other day I noticed the welded-on plate 'foot' of the centrestand on the left side was incredibly close to fouling the rear tyre. Not whilst riding, but between pushing the bike off the centrestand and the suspension settling with the weight of the bike on it. I still don't fancy it wearing a bit more and slahing the sidewall, so I went at it with a file and a hammer and it clears reassuringly 3mm now. Only thing is, that leg of the stand is a bit short now so the bike leans a bit! I will keep an eye out for a replacement stand at some point - yes, I've seen the ebay post (replied there too!)....

The sidestand frame bracket could be bent outwards which will change the angle it props the bike at... also.. the sidestand mounting bolt should be tight so it closes the gaps it sits in.. there should be 2 stainless steel washers either side of the stand head where it meets the frame lug.. a quick test is... IF the stand moves towards and away from the bike when it's extended, then the mounting bolt system is at fault.. it should be a tight fit....

Saying all that.. if the stand is ok then it could be the ride height being very high... you could try using a small jack on the mainstand legs to push em apart a bit

looking at the 3rd picture of the sidestand i can see the top part of the spring is not fitted correctly, it should be in the groove near the tip of the pin it sits on, it needs to move 5mm away from the engine so it pop's into the groove....
