got BT45's on my new toy and they are crap, sorry but they are compaired to the avons i used to have on my last NTV, BT45's seem to make it very twichy, in the dry or in the rain. The thing is they are nearly new which is the bit that piss's me off, checked wheel alignment and bearings etc (swinging arm and head stock bearings and both are fine). I just dont rate them. had avon azaro? (my spelling is crap) on my old NTV and it handled like it was on rails, rain or shine and you could change line mid corner if you needed to. Think i am going to bin these because they really are scarey. Rick

I`ve never got on with ANY Bridgstones in all my years riding, always liked Dunlops and / or Avons but some Metzelers have impressed me too. I like the AV55 / 56`s, I think they`ve superseeded the old Azaro`s which were very good tyres in their own right. A lot of friends swear by the Maxxis tyres, I`ve never had them on any of my bikes but ridden bikes with them fitted and they seemed ok. I`ve also heard good reports about the Pirelli Angel st`s too.

How many miles have you done on them? any chance that a careful break in could make them work better? If you do get rid of them, I might be interested in buying them cheap off of you if you're just going to bin them.

on my last NTV i had an Avon azaro and a storm fitted, they were spot on, these BT45's dont like white lines, tar lines or any difference in road surface, as for how far, well i ride her to work and back every day, 50 miles per day and i have had the bike 2 weeks so about 500 miles so they should be run in, i didnt put them on so dont know how many miles paddy did before i got her off him but i know they are new because i have the reciept for them also the little bobbles are still on them so it aint far. as for selling them, no, would bin them just incase there is a problem with them and you have an accident because of them, will be putting avons on her at the end of the month i think. I wonder if you've got a bad set as most people love BT45s on NTVs. Having said that, different tyres suit different people and their individual riding styles. I've recently put Avon Roadriders on and I have to say I love them in the dry - really suit me and the bike. They're not quite as good in the wet, especially over changable surfaces, but still much better than the BT35s that were on when I bought it (yes, they must have been over 10 years old!)
Pity Avon don't do Storms in 110/80-17, as I agree with you, they are a fantastic tyre, both in the wet and the dry. I've really liked them on my previous bikes.

Thats odd, mine had BT45s on when I got it, they seemed fine, and I understand your precaution, I'd just really like a spare set of tyres incase I get an unrepairable puncture/tear as a get by measure so i can keep riding for the few days it would take me to sort out new tyres, up to you though! How much more do the Avon Azaros cost?

the storm and the azaro cost me £140 last time (3 years ago) so going to be at least £180 to £200 now i would of thought due to the recent price increases.

I'm surprised at some of the comments on the BT45s, but as Gills said I guess different tyres suit different people and riding styles. I'm a 6ft1 lump and I've now done around 600 miles on my new set of BTs (mostly dry but about 150 miles in very wet) and I have to say they're faultless for me (fast and weavy, non-motorway riding).
My other bike has Avon Roadriders and I took it out just for a 20 mile blast a few weeks ago and they certainly didn't feel as good as the BTs, but all bikes are set up slightly different and I was riding it slower and more nervously as I'd fitted all new brakes!!

Had Roadriders on mine since the start of the year and I love them - the edges of my boots hate them, coz they spend more time kissing tarmac now than ever before. They're even pretty good in the wet, here's the evidence: ;D

I am about the same height and weight about 17 stone, ride hard and fast and with the BT's on feels like a hippo on roller skates ON ICE! Each to their own but i would not recommend them to any one

i use Maxxis Supermaxx M6029... i've split 2 rear Roadriders down the middle and the BT45's are slippery when cold also the front tread is 1/2 worn when there's still 3mm in the middle... the Maxxis are great for the price...

Has anyone fitted 160 / 70`s to the rear of their NTV, are their clearance issues between the tyre and swingarm? Obviously I know tyres vary a tad in overall dimensions between manufacturers even though they might meet specific sizes. I know turn in will be affected by a larger rolling radius but overall gearing will be upped meaning a lazier motorway cruising speed for the motor.
