Right its been just under a year since my full rebuild of my ntv650 which I aquired for the bargain price of £300 last april. My MOT is now due (on the 11th) and my bike is in more then in need of a full service. Since the 11th of april 2010 I have since covered 35,500miles with only the most basic of maintenance, literally oil/filter, pads, and tyres!!! These bikes really are indestructable!!! The following photos are a visual warning to any of you considering joining the despatch trade..dont do it!!! The current state of things: As you can see it is a mess! In this week that I have off work I will be fully rebuilding it along the lines of a rat bike(anyone who saw my old cb500 knows what I'm about). Jobs to do: Rebuild front forks (stancions, seals, bushes, oil, clips) Rebuild front and rear calipers (seals, s/s pistons, new fluid) Rebuild clutch (cork plates, steel plates(if needed), springs, oil seal) New headrace bearings New Spark plugs New HT leads New engine oil and filter New headlight New paintjob New rear end...just you wait (theres a clue in the picture see if you can spot it!) New exhaust system Stripdown to frame and repaint Repaint engine Fit different topbox Modify airbox lots of little mods to make it a ratter!!! So thats it...prob more I've forgot - wish me luck!!!

Stunned what you have done to her in twelve months but I guess 35k in all weathers will do that. Given you now plan to RAT her. Do you have another bike for the day job? Or is this just a change of look. Single seat rear like it. lot of pics please I have been thinking about a single seat for ever. That fairing does have nice lines, what is it off?

Its not just the bikes that suffer , when your out in all weathers 8 hours a day the rider also suffers, as you well know Ian its hard , Its the best and sometimes the worst job about. So next time you see a bike school or dispatch rider out and about , spare a thought for that aching body sitting on that bike. for he/she has no choice but to ride whatever the weather.
phrase of the day: I'm getting to old for this. I need an office job.

Bike stripped, some in a topbox the rest being painted. I've mainly been doing cosmetics today and yesterday as its been such nice weather to help cure the panels and fram ein the heat from the sun!!! Heres the pics: Tommorow will be the real rebuild. Rebuild both calipers(and paint them). Rebuild the forks(paint the lowers). Rebuild the clutch and hopefully if I have enough time check the valve clearances- I will try and write up some how-tos for these procedures. One thing I am wondering is how to clean the radiator without damaging the fins, any ideas? also, the spikes on the mudguard are inch long and metal, not sharp but whould they cause me to fail an mot? They were a good idea at the time but now im not to sure if they are such a good idea!

How to's would be great. Feel free to start a new technical How To Board if you want. If you want any help with layouts just send me a pm. The new pipes look great already. With reference to the radiator. How about a warm water mist sprayer and a small paint brush to clean it with? Spikes How about a cork on each one for the MOT ;D Sorry not a clue. I will need to update your project page. www.hondantv.co.uk/bozbozproject1.php

@ rj2para (Bisto): Its gr8 I'm featured on the site, thankyou! ! As for the cork idea thats what I was considering - on ebay you can get mini bottles from china with little corks!!! The radiator I might soak first in warm water then as I dont have a sray other then a hose or a power jet (both of which might do the fins in with my heavy hands!!!) The pipes pictured will just be for the mot, I've just won a full set of carbon termingoni race pipes which will go alot nicer with the matt black me thinks. Thats another thing - I now need to make my own linkage pipe as my exhaust guy isnt free till next weekend(no good)! How tos/updates coming tonight!

Update on the spikes. I spoke to my MOT man and he said while he could not see an MOT reason for failing it on the spikes. The general feeling is the boys in blue would not be that impressed.
I still think the new seat / pipes look great.
