hmm...could be midges....It's hard to understand the Scottish anyway Hopefully I can make as little errors driving on the left side as last time.... only once drove away to wonder what the idiot was doing on the right wrong side of the road....till it dawned on me (see, I can make cheap puns too )
But at least I won't have to get used to the controls.....the rental car had a few good whacks on the side window when trying to shift (although it took me half an hour.....my friend never got used to it...)
It would be fun to see a few new faces again, the dutch forum only has plans for summer so that's too far away...

Original post by jakeActually, I stand corrected. You speak better English than me….. In English midget normally means ‘little person’ ..…. But according to the Online Etymology Dictionary midget can also mean ‘little sandfly’. Midge normally means ‘gnat’ but can also mean ‘little person’…. So Midget and Midge are interchangeable…. I blame the Scots. www.etymonline.com/index.php?search=MIDGE&searchmode=nonedictionary.reference.com/browse/midgetdictionary.reference.com/search?q=midgeAll I can say is, that I’d sooner be bitten by a gnat than a midget…. Dutch equivalent for Midget = minuscuul, dwergachtig??? We can discuss this further when you visit Wales……bet you can’t wait….

Buzzin............ ;D
Excellent news
(Maybe you'll shame a few of us into returning the compliment in the summer months.. )
Buzzin writes
Quote: "Ow and someone bring bug spray please...Last time I camped in the UK I got eaten by midgets....I stopped counting after about 50 bites per arm"
The midges problem i believe is particular to parts of scotland.
*The Scottish police are blaming 'Snow white' for causing the problem in the first place, and the 'Elf & safety' Authorities are now looking into it......................Boom, Boom.....

I see that Jazz66 has proposed a ride out to Builth Wells on his calendar for 2009, on Sunday 1st March. I should be able to juggle my shifts to make it that day. Any other NTVers able to make it on that date?
Don't know if Jazz66 has put 1st March as a date due to limitations of the calendar system or just as a starting point for negotiation. Any suggestions for a meeting point?
I know that if you come into Builth from the North across the old stone bridge there is a car park on the right with toilets. (You get to know where all the toilets are once your bladder reaches a certain age).
This would be a good place to meet as it is easy to find. Coming from the East or South you just follow the signs for Llandrindod Wells and you will come to the bridge, and the car park before it. Well, somebody has to make a start. I would throw in mid day as a rough time. All subject to change or negotiation, of course. The White House campsite is easy to find on the Hay road for those that have to travel a distance (as previously suggested), or plenty of B&Bs in town.
It's possible that someone else has posted suggestions already on this site- I don't know if it's just me, but while the whole point of having a new forum was to make information more accessible, I am finding some aspects difficult to navigate. Perhaps we are already becoming victims of our own success?
Looking forward to more posts regarding the meet up.

Hi micawber Sorry all. Should have made this clearer... there is no date as yet, just put it up there as a reminder about 'Spring ride-out'. Full post probably discusses where and roughly when, but no firm date. www.ntvhonda.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=rideouts&action=display&thread=19Nice to see you trying out calendar, though Micawber Great detail about meeting place.. Kind of thing we need from those with a bit of local knowledge about general area. I would be travelling from London, but Buzzin has a heroic journey from Holland to make just to get to wales meet up... So any local help is really appreciated... Good point.... Just like on the tech side of biking some will understand easily the ins and outs of viscocity in relation to volume etc to fixing a problem, others will struggle to understand it, but can follow guidance to meet the same target. It is easy to forget that some will be slightly baffled by some of the alternative communications we have. I know I found the wiki hard to get to grips with, as it work slightly differently to what i am used to. But with a bit of help from buzzin i managed to get started and engaged in some posting (although buzzin probably thinks some of my activities were a terrorist attempt to take down the NTV wiki page... ;D ) Don't mean to sound condescending, but we should be aiming to ensure that we work to the lowest common denominator when introducing new stuff, (And I put myself in that bracket ) otherwise those that just don't 'get it' will simply not engage and that's NOT what we want. We want everybody to feel comfortable using all the forum. happy to help out anyway i can with help or guidelines in how to use any of the links on the forum. (Can do this via site or happy to accept pm's if thats easier.) Sure others will offer help and may perhaps offer even better assistance in areas they feel strong in as well. Because thats the beauty of the forum. By joining we all benefit, because the strengths we have are shared amongst us all.... Easy to feel stupid because you think everyone else will KNOW this, (and many won't) but the only thing stupid about not knowing something is NOT asking for help. (Remember, There are NO stupid questions, only stupid answers... ) Good post, with a valid point. Ride safe And see ya in wales..

Hi everyone,
Sorry but I won't be coming to the spring meet, whatever the date will be. Just a wee bit (seeing we're writing in scottish) to far away for me. Although I know that Buzzin has every intention of riding over.
I would love to see Wales, especially on a motorbike. But unfortunately....... (time, money etc...).
I hope you lot have great weather.
Ride safely

A couple of points firstly sorry but I have over promissed here! Can't see me making the rideout at this point as I have already managed to book a week away with my cub pack and two walking with dad and cant see a leave pass for another weekend away. That said happy to meet up for a ride/meetup day trip. My second point, is would later in the year give you better road conditions (allowing more fun within the speed limits ), let alone higher air temperatures? Roger

The White House campsite reopens in March... but we'll need to book in good time, because I've been told that this is a popular site..... Having said that, there are one or two alternatives in the same area.... But to give people more scope, I would suggest anytime between March and middle of May so long as we can avoid Bank Holidays.... Could meet up at: www.restaurants.co.uk/rest_includes/dx_rest.php/Knills-Restaurant/CXNCcFk=Knills Restaurant Knill Service Station Crossgates Llandrindod Wells Powys LD1 6RE See ‘location map’ on link above…..

MZ Riders Club will be meeting at White House Campsite, Builth Wells on Sat 14 March..... But anyone is welcome to join in no matter what bike they ride... It will give those member's of the NTV forums who want to, a chance to check the campsite out..... Then at a later date, we can arrange our own meeting... or, could even meet earlier than The MZ Riders Club.

Gone a bit quiet on this thread of late. Has the March outing died a death? My work rotas are done till April now. Could make it on weekend of 14th and 28th March, if there is any interest.
Micawber.
Error! Must have been looking at it upside down. Actually off on weekends of 7th and 21st March. 21st seems more likely, actually.
