HI , do you have a bolt to go back in as i have a spare if you want one, send me a pm with your address (won't mention the lower clamp pinch bolt that decided to snap in half, leading to an entertaining session with ever larger drills and a dentists pick (to get the thread out at the end). i have the number 19 bolt in my fork legs that is why it was easy for me. regards outlaw

Thanks for the offer Outlaw (not been ignoring you for a week, been away in the c*r*v*n), but I've got a few biscuit tins full of shite crap useful bits'n'bobs accumulated over the years .... <rummage> .... 2 off, high tensile steel, M10 x 40mm, metric fine thread (1.25), flange headed bolts - check!

Hi All
I own a NTV 650 and think it's time to change the forkoil, but I honestly dont know how much oil I should put in ?? I dont know if my forklegs have been changed to an different NTV model (the engine have been changed).. So is there a way to check which forklegs are mounted on my bike ? - I´m asking because I have read that the different models take differnt amounts of oil :-(
And when I bought the bike, the seller told me, that he had installed progressive springs from Wirth.. I dont know if the change of springs result in a different level of forkoil ??
I normally use the approach of measuring 12cm from the top (without spring).
Best regards Alex

Measure the spring and consult the manual, if you have the drain bolts at the bottom of the legs you've got V1.. with no drain bolts they are V2.. it'll say on the sticker (MZ6-731 or 732 for V2) also if your heavy it might be worth adding a little bit more oil

Hi The other day is dismantled my front forks, because I needed to install new oilseals + dustseals after a ride to Nordkapp in Norway (6500 km is no problem on a NTV).. Back to my question.. On the splitdrawing, on page 1 of this thread. I am thinking on item 12.. I have fitted item 12, so the damper rod slides into the damper rod seat (If you think of a drinking cup, the cup would be upright, and the damping rod slides into the seat) ... BUT on the splitdrawing, it looks like the damper rod seat is mounted upside down (the "drinking cup" would face upside down, so the damping rod is NOT able to slide into the seat).. sorry for the bad description... but I am uncertain if I have installed the damping rod seat upsidedown?? ---NEW-----------NEW-------NEW--- I just found this picture in my manual: - picture numer "7.19B" on page 6.8 wbieniec.kis.p.lodz.pl/moto/ntv/manual/6.pdfI think I have fitted the damper rod seat the right way ;D so the damper rod slides into the seat.. Best regards Alex

Sounds to me like you've fitted it the correct way. That's how I did it the last 2 times I dismantled and cleaned the forks. If you look at picture 7.19b on 6.8 from your link, the rod goes into the seat. Probably to keep it in it's correct position when in situ. hth

JUP: Thanks for your reply.. Yeah I think I got it right :-)
I´m just waiting on my package to arrive with the postman today.. Hopefully the package will include a new set of dustseals and some forkoil, so that I can put the forks back onto the bike :-)

Honda just say ATF (which is roughly 10W) but I think it depends on your riding style and weight. I prefer 5 to 7.5 and I'm average (5'9 80Kg). Also if you ride mainly in the Summer and warm weather and/or really going for it slightly heavier one is better as they do thin with heat.
