why not use the bolt hole that the silencer would use the one under the engine and get a bit of metal and bend it as you want it, then go to a car shop and see if they sell a bolt that has a bit of rubber on the end,

If it hits the shaft or the exhaust itself, maybe I can glue some rubber on the point where the stand stops. Sounds straightforward, but I would not have confidence in the efficiency of a glue that needs to bond rubber to metal and withstand a fair amount of heat and be exposed to the elements (you do get rain and ride in it?) Outlaw's suggestion is probably a better one to start with, make a bracket from plate (stainless steel if you can get it) ideally with two mounting points, then fit a rubber bump stop to that. On my last aNTy I used a rubber door stop from the local DIY, a circular piece of rubber with a hole through the centre, it allowed the bolt with washer to be recessed and the stand rested against the end.

Been out to the shed this morning (stopped for a couple of mins at 11, naturally) - here's the fruits of my labour: I can haz a stand! But wait - there's a Moturd pipe on it, how does he stop the clattering? Like this: Rubber door stop with a washer pressed into the base for stiffness. Hole drilled in footrest hanger & tapped for an M4 machine screw - job's a good'un! Sorted!

I finally got some time to install a used centrestand I bought from eBay. It is now confirmed that the Deauville 650 centrestand fits perfectly on the NTV. I guess the part number is the same, and it seems to be easier to find these for the Deauville. I had to remove the exhaust in order to install the stand and it was an easier task than I thought it would be. After fitting the stand and the spring I found it was hitting the exhaust before reaching the left footrest hanger, which did not happen to kirriepete. So I had to find a way to stop the stand on the position shown by the photos above, before it reaches the exhaust. And I had to do it on the left side of the bike, like kirriepete did, since I didn't want to mess with the exhaust. His solution would not work for me since I couldn't let the stand go that higher because of the exhaust on the right, so here is my alternative solution : Doesn't look that bad at all, what you think ? Cutted a piece of stong metal, did a hole on it and on the stand footrest in order to unite them firmly. I then glued a piece of rubber on the right side of the metal extension where it was hitting the footrest hanger and covered it with some black tape. In the end, I guess the stand will be stopping near the position it would stop if I had the stubby exhaust with muffler installed. It's sorted by now. A centrestand was a much needed part and specially usefull when doing bike maintenance.

That's an excellent solution cyphron, well done.
Now that you have opportunity to look at this in slower time, is it possible to fabricate a bracket from the bottom of the frame and therefore out of sight?
You will be pleased to have the centre stand now when you're working (and polishing) on your aNTy. It is so much better when she stands still while you're pushing and rubbing her ;D

I have just bought the Wemoto honda centre stand for my 93 650P. It seems to me that the only way to fit it is to take the exhaust apart. my original 20 year old collecter box looks as though its rusted into place and would collapse if I mucked about trying to take it off. Am I missing a trick here???

Hi you might want to read my threads i have created and have a long hard think about the centre stand. as i bought a ntv 650 the previous owner handed me the centre stand in a bag ''great'' i thought couple of days later i fitteed it only to find when i put the exhaust back on that one exhaust stud had snapped.. now i have a ntv 650 in peices and a lot of work to do... if i had a choice again i would buy a motorbike engine jack we ntv owners cant use paddock stands but there are lots of options.
