Thanks for the welcome, I found your site on the search engine while trying to find ntvs for sale, i am watching one on ebay a non runner that don't bother me but a bit worried with the 99800 miles on the clock i know they can do high milage but depends on servicing i suppose. never mind i'll keep looking all the best.

99000 miles is after the recommended mileage of changing cam chain, but at the same time it all depends on how the motor sounds, if it's not broke, don't fix it as they say!
I think they've been known to get to roughly 120,000 miles before requiring engine work.

Welcome Cowboy.
I have an 89 revere with 91k on the clock, the old girl has 'had' electrical issues but she is now fab.
Some of the members have some great examples, damians is worth a look, check out the gallery if you have not seen it yet.
All the best for your hunt Roger.

Howdy Cowboy welcome aboard and good luck in your quest 100k miles on an NTV is "nicely run in" Sounds as though you will know the kinds of things to be looking for. Beyond general appearance (check it's a genuine with at least one dent in the tank ;D) I'd look at: Gearbox - you probably won't have First or Second gear (but hopefully one of them!) Condition of Disks - if not replaced by 100k, they will show a lot of wear. They can be expensive or difficult to find. Engine noise - there are three chains - a cam chain for each cylinder and one to drive the oil pump. Cam chains have automatic adjusters and last circa 60k-80k. The oil pump chain has no adjuster, but runs in the sump and should last forever. The Water pump is run from the back of the oil pump. If seals on either leak, you can see from a drain hole underneath the oil pump (left hand side - should be obvious) I have an engine with >80k (do not know how much though) which has probably seen a few years hard dispatching. Runs beautifully, but it looks as though the Head Gaskets have gone. I only became aware of this through coolant overboiling and overheating. Check condition (and presence of!) panels, especially right hand side (they are as rare as rocking horse p00) unless (like me) you get sick of waiting and give your main stealer £80 for a new one. Difficult to check without a physical look, the carb diaphragms eventually split. They are bonded to the slides but a firm in Manchester (check the favourite websites thread) can repair for £35 or so for each carb (unless you're happy to pay Honda £180 each!) Rear Suspension is definetely worth a good look. Standard is a sealed Showa unit and they catch all the crud from the back wheel. Damper seals will eventually go. Can be repaired (circa £80), second hand units are rare and generally expensive. Voltage rectifier/regulator might give problems. This item which by function gets hot, has been placed near the rear shock, it too gets all the crud and the fins block up. It gets little cooling air and can cause problems when it's "had enough". I think they're fairly common from cross range bikes.
If not abused: Clutch seems to last forever Shaft and Bevel gear last forever
As you will see from our many posts, they are bomb proof, but when you have to do any work on the engine, bring lots of cash for the swear box. The rear cylinder isn't too bad, but you will often think it's a lot easier to drop the engine out to do anything on the front (even change the top spark plug).
Specialist Tools? You can do almost everything with the contents of a decent tool set, however: Get the Honda Spark Plug Spanner (Wemoto, circa £10) If you're going to remove the swinging arm for any reason (let's hope that is unlikely) the specialist tool is a must (I have experience!).
Hope that doesn't put you off!

I'll be in Bristol (Portishead) on Thurs 29 Jan, hoping to get away early / mid afternoon and travelling home (at last!) in North Yorkshire for a long weekend. I'm in my car with plenty of space for a passenger if you don't mind sitting on Nell MacAndrew's knee ;D

Well done Jaz - an excellent photo - Niiiiice I'm sorry to disappoint though, I've just noticed the typo - it is "Neil" MacAndrew If it was Nell, I'd be showing her my magic car - say the right word and it automatically turns into a layby ;D
