A very busy time for me at present, but hopefully about to start commuting again on the mighty Pan, which means opportunities to join ride outs. I'm in the process of relocating to the Leatherhead area, which means Box Hill and the Ace Cafe are possible on an evening and a threesome posse (Jaz, Sky and me) ride out to Loomies on weekends when I'm "Darn Sarf" I must get some time soon to re look at the plans for June (Wiltshire) and September (France Battlefield Tour) Either that or i'm getting older..?........... No comment ;D

hello mate, nice to have you back... ;D See your now a pilot, and with the no fly zone maybe gliders could be the transport of the future.....(flung up there by catapult obviously. ) Look forward to your move, be nice and close for the soutern end rideouts ;D ;D Much more central for all the important meets..ace, rykas, loomies...hehe McF, Sky, Jaz and Roger............. plus any others who can make it are MOST welcome, the more the merrier... The other trips i will look forward to seeing up dated so we can sort out time etc.. Ride safe.

with the no fly zone maybe gliders could be the transport of the future.....(flung up there by catapult obviously. ) Yes, there very little chance that the volcanic ash will clog up the engines. ;D McF, Congrats on getting pilot's license. That's one "driver's license" that I haven't got. I did an introduction course on gliding once (many, many years ago). So I have flown a glider, but only under the supervision of an instructor. Looking forward to any ride outs (Belgium/France ?) Ride & fly safely ! GvS

Looking forward to any ride outs (Belgium/France ?) Ride & fly safely ! GvS This volcano is having a massive disruption on air travel - I have 3 friends all stuck around waiting for separate transatlantic flights. Thanks GvS, I have only one solo flight to my credit at present and under a lot of supervision for the next few months (check flight most days before I can go solo) and I have yet to convert to winch launching - but it's all to come! Ride outs? Well, I'm trying to keep my face in some books in preparation for an exam tomorrow (and I'm not feeling at all confident about it ) Then I can start thinking about the plan We did a few surveys recently for June - Wiltshire Wander Sept - Battlefield Tour I have a few friends keen on the France Battlefield Tour and a little interest on here (probably GvS and Jazz, possibly Buzzin?), but that will have to start going in diaries very soon.

Get the studies out of the way then we can start looking forward to some decent run outs... ;D Saw an article in the paper today from some pilots and it was something i was thinking as well..."why can't some of the planes just fly under the ash cloud rather then through it? seems to be an economic reason rather then just safety, as it cost more to run a plane a low altitude. But surely NOT running the planes is MORE expensive..?? Any way, GvS looking forward to meeting up on the other side of the channel at some point this year.... ;D ;D be good to meet you and of course Buzzin on home soil, so to speak.... here's to a summer ride out INTERNATIONAL stylee... ( mid july onwards would be good for me.... )

Get the studies out of the way then we can start looking forward to some decent run outs... ;D I'm hoping to pass this exam but my desk is still going to be busy for the next 12 months. 6 x guest lectures (Optional) 3 x 1 day schools 1 x 3 day residential school 2 x Assignments (circa 4,000 words) 1 x Dissertation (circa 20,000 words) 1 x End of Course assessment (circa 3,000 words) But NO MORE EXAMS ;D seems to be an economic reason rather then just safety, as it cost more to run a plane a low altitude. But surely NOT running the planes is MORE expensive..?? Jaz, where is your usual cynicism? Airplane probably not full, therefore running at marginal profit margins. Fly lower, use more fuel, profitability falls Airline cancels the flight, travel insurance refunds the fare Traveller still wants to travel, books another seat Airplane next time around might have more seats filled Battlefield tour update Day School in Leeds on 04 Sept, therefore that's a weekend ruled out for me, but at least no assignments close to that time of year. (Unlike my trip to Canada end of June/early July - assignment due in 3 days after I get back )
