www.fuelexhausts.com/Gallery_detail.cfm?iSubBrandIDPK=11&iBrandIDPK=3#Has anyone had any hands on experience of these systems ? They look very nice and at the moment appear to be very well priced. I`m very interested but have a concern now that I`ve fitted luggage as the last picture suggests, the tailpipe is very close to the bottom of the wingrack and that`s without the case attached...

I have had a lot of time and trouble getting sorted out with luggage. There is no way that you will be able to fit wingrack luggage with that exhaust fitted. Even some who have the motad fitted have said that it is fouling the luggage or at least touch and go. You may be better off with the motad or the ones by "illegalalien". Check the other posts re. his system. Rod

Decent Price and they get a good review. Looks like they're including a manifold to join the two header pipes to the silencer - an absolute must. If anything, the manifold looks too long and the silencer is too far back. It's not going to help when removing the back wheel, but that is a sod with the longer silencer anyway.

I agree with rodh about fitting the windrack luggage... My bike's exhaust is similar to these ones, but maybe a little bit larger and slighly lowered. Mine also has that metalic chrome cover over the downpipes junction, like the original. Lets try a simple comparison : Original 1996 NTV : My NTV : Fuel Exhaust NTV :

Hi Cyphron and thanks for replying. Your pics do suggest that the Fuel setup wont`t be practical with my luggage but your system has given me food for thought...

Image on their own site: so NO it's not going to work nicely with a wing rack But....depending on how the can fits the manifold thingy. You might be able to shorten the pipe to before the bend up and slightly modify the mounting....this should make it horizontal and give you plenty of clearance. This would also look more like the stock setup and give less trouble when removing the wheel...

I'd be tempted to have a close look at a Transalp to see if you could convert to that system, they show a picture of one sitting behind the wingrack. Anybody know how hard it would be to convert, looks interesting. Mick.

I have fitted "africa twin" down pipes fitted to my NTV, allows me to fit a carbon can on mine due to the fact it turns my exhaust into a "two into one". You must grind the heat shield mounts of though to make it fit inside the frame for the rear pipe. Odie

Thanks for the interest and advice all-I like Buzzin`s thoughts but imagine that any shortening would probably mean that a Dyno run or two might be required to adjust the jetting. I note that Fuel do entertain custom builds but state they are too busy at the moment. I intend to make contact with them at the weekend to see if they can "affordably" help.

I'm pretty sure dyno runs won't be all that necesary at all....the NTV isn't a performance monster so switching exhausts should affect it much....

I've taken my silencer off today to try to clean off some of the rust, I started it once I took it off...There is NO way could I ride the bike like that, the police would pull me over as soon as I got out of my drive! I dont know how you get away with it......

Excellent pic Norfolk and judging by the scrapes on your pannier, removal of silencer seems to radically improve cornering ability of the NTV... ;D
