Well guys, looks as though I will be on the shelf for alittle while and eventually looking for a few parts. I lowsided my Hawk last night riding with some friends. Physically, I just cracked my scapola and its in a sling. Other than that, nothing else or even a scratch and a sore index finger thats fine.
I believe what happened was can be summed up into 3 words. I FUKT UP! As I rounded a blind turn and came upon the construction sign on the right edge of the road, I felt I was closer to the outside than I wanted or needed to be and was gonna come closer to the sign than I wanted to be. I tapped the front brake a few times and was gonna cut the turn alittle sharper to avoid the sign more, but unfotunately there was small gravel there and the front wheel started to wobble and I realized I was ditch bound, I believe I did what I always emphasise to myself and practice not doing and all know its one of the most important rules is I became fixated on the`sign rather than where I wanted to go and that was the end of making a safe meneuver on by the sign. They say that the first step to avoiding another accident the same way is to reallize what ya`did wrong the first one. Well, i believe I realize my mistake. Long story short...Front tire was at the edge headed off the`road, then rear tire followed..thats when... I THINK.. in a split secod I have 3 choices...fist was hit the sign like a bat out of hell and hope the bike wins..needless to say that was not an option lol Then theres option 2 an3..high side (NUH UH) or low side...which i chose. Or probably more likely I just thought I chose something and got lucky and low`sided. ANYWAY, came down on my shoulder first and the rest just happened. Dont ask me what hit next lol I laid on my back for what seemed like 5 minutes, but was probably a minute. I couldnt really move in that time if I wanted to. lol i knew my shoulder was hurt, but wiggled toes, feet, legs..etc etc and all seemed to be ok and went to get up, proceeded to look for the Hawk and saw my friends coming back and friends got the bike up and waited for someone to carry my sore ass and hurt bike home. Thank goodness for good protective gear.
On a positove note.. I did manage to get the bike`started when I got home and it didnt sound like anything was wrong internally. i couldnt tell that anything sounded a miss`at all in the engine. From what I saw, it was mostly cosmetic damage... dent in right side of tank (how that happened I dont know as bike layed down on left side), speedo plastics cracked, bent gear shift, bent headlight bracket and broken left front turn signal, and front tire seemes to be slightly off but doesnt seem too bad.
I was planning on modding it some, but leaving it kind of stock, but Guess its a good excuse to really do some serious mods now huh? I may hit ya guys up for some mod ideas sometime.
WEAR THAT GEAR GUYS! IT WORKS!
And for RJ...That Corbin was untouched !!! ;D
