whats the hawk thumper? as far as I was aware all the Hawks had the same engine as the ntv (except varying in displacement, 400/650) with altered gearing and chain output. In fact the engine existed in this incarnation before it was given shaft drive for the revere (hence the second gear issue apparently, gears not built to cope with shaft drive)

If you click on the link on the post with the shiny red Hawk, you`ll be taken to a page where someone has fitted a SOHC Honda FT500 motor into a Hawk chassis. There are quite a few `specials` on that link

Looks good Just wondering: did he change the swingarm to take 4 bolt or did he manage to hide the centre bolt really well? (I guess the first) It`s a chain drive Hawk remember, they do have the four bolt wheel fixing and not the single bolt shaft drive type.. The Hawk has a single bolt to hold the rear wheel. In order to use the VFR wheel, either the Hawk spindle gets modified by adding the 4 lug bolts, or you can use the VFR spindle in the Hawk eccentric. For the latter option you either need to shorten the spindle or add a larger spacer on the left side. The last option to using the VFR wheel on a Hawk is to drill out the wheel center.
