Hi Ant welcome to the club.
Your English is fine.
Visited Spain last year and loved it. Not yet made it down on the bike, like Skyhook but I would love too at some point.
Any chance of some pics of your bike?
All the best Roger

Don't worry about the language Your english is fine, and when all else fails, just try spanish....you might be surprised how much of it can be understood by foreigners.... I don't speak spanish, but can understand some of it in writing (and if I hang around spanish talking people for more then a week I start understanding the spoken language too....very annoying to the people around me )

Don't worry about the language Your english is fine Well said Buzzin Icha habe nur ein bissien Deutsch, est un peut Francais. Sadly, no Spanish, Italian, Portugese or more importantly for this Forum, Dutch We English Speakers are shamefully lazy when it comes to languages. I could never manage to converse on a forum like this in any language other than English, and all of you "Johnny Foreigners" do so effortlessly. Perhaps we should have a "only post in a foreign language" day. I'd be using free online translation services rather a lot! It is interesting to ask if accents and dialects differ much in your countries. In the UK it can be difficult for two people to understand each other. Scots, Irish, Welsh, Geordies (Newcastle Area), Scousers (Liverpool), Brummies (Birmingham) and then we can start on some of the Country accents.

Well, there are the different languages in spain. Castellano (I think) is the 'main' Spanish, and I believe there is Basque and Catalan as separate languages From experience I can say that Chilean Spanish does have differences to Spanish Spanish (after a few days in Chile I learned the word for toilets: BaƱos, but to my surprise the Spanish don't use that word....took a while to find the toilet at the stop over in Madrid ) And then of course there is Portuguese, which to the untrained ear sound similar but isn't. (like Dutch and German) Did I get that right antequerano?

I've added myself to the map too. Youija and me are the only Portuguese members and I can see that most of tue users here live in UK !
Maybe this can represent a small sample of the NTVs popularity by country. Definitely, UK wins ...
I wonder why there are no users from spain, such a big country ...

Ah Cyphron, it can be explained a bit....the forum was set up by 4 brits and me (self proclaimed half brit ) so it would make sense the first lot would be british It's also because a lot of non-english speaking nations have their own NTV forum. I know of a great German one and I believe there was a French one too. These are also nations where most people prefer to speak their own language rather than english. Us Dutchies don't have that 'problem' as we are raised to speak at least 3 languages (well....that's what they try to teach anyway) But I think it's also because the NTV (Revere) was very popular in britain, more so than in other countries. I believe a lot of them were also used by couriers and dispatchers. We could have spanish members....not sure, and not everyone put a pin on the map so we won't know

Yes I agree with you. I've been on those french and german forums, but I prefer this one :-). The german one seems very complete, but the language is a pain to understand ... The French one is readable, but I think its users are very imature... But it has good NTV pictures on it !

We do like to think of ourselves as "all inclusive", but do remember that we Brits are very lazy when it comes to languages. You "Johnny Foreigners" don't help us much - always wanting to try and improve your English, which is so much better than our command of your own language (whatever that is!) because we will just let you speak our language - it's just not fair and is not our fault I'm probably better than many, but struggle to "recalibrate" to other languages and even then I struggle with French or German and no other languages! I've said it before, and think there is still merit in declaring a non english speaking day/week or even month Just don't expect too many posts that make much sense from me!

Well, I could post in my official mother tongue, but I think only me and GvS would understand any of it That's also a reason for wanting to do things in english...it's a universal language (well....after chinese that is....but I'm pretty sure I can say non of us know that/those language(s))

Just to note that we English (i am irish btw) do have it hard and you Non-English speaking Europeans have it way too easy How so i hear you say? Well when most Europeans think of a language that will help them in the real world, most will pick English..Why. Hollywood. Pure and simple. Really wanna see a movie, chances are its American Wanna to hear the latest chart sensation, its American Any one who wants watch or listen to the latest Movies or Music (without subtitles ) has to learn English. So for any European, you have an easy choice, your own language plus one..mmmh ....English please teacher... ;D Now for us brits ( ) its a bit harder, sure we get the music and the films in a language we understand. But what should be OUR second language? Dutch, spoken many places but universal...No. french, mmh maybe but not really universal German, nope, Spanish, not yet but if America Does go majority 'Hispanic' in 2020 (i think) that may well become universal, plus it plays well in south america Chinese, No until they get one language, same for india And then we got the science community..yep english again. So we are on a loser. Learn English and over half the world will understand you. what ever we pick will be used so infrequently we will quickly lose the skill we just learnt.... Big respect to all who can converse in a foreign language. remember its not that we DON'T want to learn, you just won't let us use it enough.... So I rest my case that Other Europeans have it easy... ;D We do like to think of ourselves as "all inclusive", but do remember that we Brits are very lazy when it comes to languages. Actually you're right....I have real trouble not speaking english when someone is trying to speak dutch My ex got really frustrated, as she had to learn dutch from my relatives instead of me....I can teach the words and sounds, but it's nearly impossible for me to converse in dutch with an english person. This is just one of the factors that leads me to believe english is a mother-tongue for me as well (other things contribute too)
