Hiya, it's been a long time since I last logged in here - I got my licence, and my first proper bike, a 1989 NTV600, in 2011. Lots of you folks here helped me with various bits of maintenance advice, for which I will always be grateful.....
....but now, my NTV600 is sitting next to a usurper, I bought a Speed Triple a few months ago and the NTV is now on SORN. I'd like to sell it as a complete bike as I really don't have time to break it and I know it will provide reliable transport for somebody.
The Bad Things:
The plastics are all present, but with the old problem of brittleness, so there's a bit of gaffer tape involved in holding the side panels onto the bike, and I did the closest rattle-can match I could manage to the petrol tank colour.
The back tyre deflates over a few days - my garage chap reckons it's old alloy getting porous in places due to age as it has occurred through two sets of new tyres and valve stems.
Temp guage is temperamental, so I put a dipstick thermometer on it instead.
Instrument case is cracked, so it sports plenty of gaffer tape, those things are like rocking horse poo!
The centrestand seized up completely a few years back and I had to saw and bend the pivot brackets to get the stand off, so you can't fit a new one.
No airbox - fitted conical air filters instead.
The Good Things:
It passed its MOT in (I think) June, and whilst I haven't fired it up since July, it's probably fine - would recommend trailer anyway just in case.
It has a very comfortable Topsellerie gel seat, sooooo nice.
It had a new set of Michelin Pilot Road 3 tyres about 1,000 miles ago - lots of tread left on them.
LED indicators - with appropriate relay.
Fly lead to fit Optimate battery tender.
Fuel Exhausts pipe fitted, removable baffle. Sounds terrific when it's out
If anyone is interested, please PM me or email dickinson.jon@gmail.com to let me know. I'll put it on ebay if not, but I owe this forum so I'll let it go for £325.
Cheers
