Hi NTV forum members & viewers,
My name is Pete and I bought my first NTV at Easter, I've been riding bikes (2nd time around) since 2003 having at a few moped's and 125's in my teens before wife, mortgage & kids.
For work I ride a Honda Forza scooter and I've just replaced my previous bike (a 2007 Bandit 650 that I'd owned for over 3 years) with a 1997 Honda NTV650.
I bought the NTV bike from ebay and it had been laid up outside since September last year, although MOT'd and rideable the tyres were shot & it ran rough until warm.
Over the next couple of weeks and with a new set of tyres (Avon road-riders), spark plugs, Oil & filter, air filter, a change of coolant & much cleaning of brake calipers to free them off I went out for a bimble of 30 miles to try it out. Pleased to say it was all good so I arranged a longer outing yesterday. Off we set for Dungerness and again no issues, did about 90 miles and took it up to 75 once (treating it gently and new tyres) and really pleased with it.
Stopped off at Headcorn Areodrome for a cuppa on the way home and she wouldn't start, engine turned over (albeit slowly) so, with 3 willing volunteers a push-start was in order and away she went. I nursed her home (dreading stalling it) and went to Halfords this morning to by a voltmeter and determine what the issue is. I will ad a post to the Technical section to hopefully get some assistance.
Since 2003 I've had several bikes (CB500, Deauville 650, Varadero XL1000, MT03 (660), Bandit 1250, Bonneville scrambler, Bandit 650) and a few scooters (Vespa GTS300, Honda Swing 125 and nw a Honda Forza 300.
My commute is 9,000 miles per annum and I do 3-4,000 a year pleasure - trips include Wales (3 times), Scotland (once), Germany (3 times) and this year a Scotland trip on the Scooter is planned for June & a 2-week English trip booked for August
