Hello everyone,
The ntvs recently passed its 100,000th mile and took us on a trip down to paris for a couple of days.
Riding great but when hard on the power theres an annoying stutter where the engine dies and catches again, sometimes once sometimes in quick succession, sometimes not at all and some times so badly that you dont gain any speed whatsoever.
Initial thoughts were fuel starvation but the pump works fine. Could the solenoid bit be cutting the fuel pump when fuel consumption increases suddenly? Could it be air starvation that rather than underfueling under acceleration it overfuels and stalls? I doubt its electrical as it's so sporadic and some days fine some days not. A full tank of fuel seems to help some days but not other. I've also ruled out valve clearances as its so irregular but correct me if im wrong to do that.
What other things should I be checking?

I would say that the original fuel pump certainly won't last 100.000 mls. Check the points in the pump (see my site for more info). On the other hand, you could also have a small hole in one of the membranes of you carbs.
Good luck & keep us informed.

The pumps absolutely fine and working very strongly which is great, Im starting to think its the HT Coils on their way out? Feels very electronic and not like fuel supply to me. Going to wip them off and check them with a multimeter
