Hello again,
the rear shock appears to be at deaths door.
What is the best replacement shocker, is it a Hagon or does someone have a better alternative.
thanks

You can have them reserviced too. I had an estimate for circa £80 to fit new seals, piston rod and refill the damper. I think a new aftermarket shock was going to hit me for 300 beer vouchers. I would not like to imagine the mortgage size required to buy a Honda genuine part.
I managed to get a good one from eBay for a lot less and I've kept the duff one. If my good one starts to go, I'll get the duff one sorted, then swap and I have minimum time off the road. I think turnaround time was 2 weeks to have the work done.

If he will post to a UK address, I can give you mine. I'm home next weekend and would happily send onwards, assuming you cover the postage.
Here's the suggestion, get an idea of international shipping charges. I did find a broker for this service who were pretty good. Decide you maximum overall price, then place your bid up to your maximum overall price less UK shipping and international shipping charges.
If you're successful, pay the seller and provide a UK address. The shocker gets delivered there, you could paypal transfer the international charges and the shocker is sent to you.
Sellers Risk - nil
Your risks, seller does not send the shocker, intermediary does not send the shocker = you out of pocket. Insist on insurance (for which you would pay) or at least proof of posting.
Intermediary's risks, minimal, maximum exposure, the cost of posting onwards if your payment bounces. Minimised by waiting for your transfer to clear before sending. Potential Customs issues if the goods attract an export fee, but that's not too likely within the EU (I think and I am no expert)
I'd be happy to help if it was worth it for you. PM me if you want my details; I'll be able to check Sunday on two limited opportunities 0630 - 0700 and 1230 - 1400 both BST

Look up Royalmail Parcelforce and the website will give you the cost of various services to almost anywhere in the world. Even if you dont have an account you can send it out via the local postoffice.
The shocks are generally SHOWA units and are rebuildable. Some bike shops get the seals made and keep them in stock. Mcf is about correct for price. It makes a good job of them if properly done. Much btter than replacement aftermarket one's.

THE SEARCH FOR THE REAR SHOCK GOES ON. TRIED THE GUY ON E BAY BUT GOT NO REPLY AS TO THE CONDITION OF THE SHOCK. RECENTLY FOUND OUT ORIGINAL HONDA SHOCK IS NOT REBUILDABLE, IS THAT RIGHT?
HAVE TO BITE THE BULLET AND BUY A NEW HAGON WHICH IS REBUILDABLE 262 QUID FROM WEMOTO.
DOES ANYONE KNOW A BETTER SUPPLIER, IE LESS EXPENSIVE
THANKS

Hi Norman,
If you can't buy them off ebay, I've just spotted the Betor monoshocks for the NTV which seem fairly cheap. But I couldn’t say how good they are. They might be cheap and nasty…..

It may vary between designs. I'm certain mine are, they're Showa. If it's not fitted to the bike take it to a dealer and ask for professional opinion, alternatively, try a photo pasted on here and hopefully one of us can help.
I noted Jake's response with £165 from Buster, which sounds a good price for a new one, if it's up to the job. My rebuild would have cost £80 or thereabouts, although I would get new parts, it's still a used shocker.

No problem...
Keep us posted on this one Norman, I'd like to know how the Betor shapes up....
My own shock will probably need replacing shortly and although the Hagon seems the obvious choice, if the Betor does the job then I'll get one myself eventually, because it's cheaper.
Cheers,
Jake.

My brother said that the rear shock on mine could do with an overhaul so if a fireblade shock would fit the may be cheaper as parts for mine do seem to be expensive. I just paid £205 for front calipers, Honda wanted £400 for a new set.
Parts seem to be much cheaper for the newer bikes.
