Hey all, I'm just servicing my RC33 ready for the summer and I noticed there are 2 spark plugs per cylinder (I only bought the bike on a whim late last year and it's been sat outside all over winter) I'm assuming both plugs are the same type? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, all 4 plugs are the same Two are a pain to get at. Much better if you remove the tank first.

Thank you for your prompt reply 'GVS' I already had the tank off and that's when I spotted the twin spark plugs! Front one was a real pain to get at because I don't have 12 inch long fingers with a grip of steel! Bike is now fully serviced, cleaned and ready to go - well it would be if rainwater hadn't got into the tank over the winter - bugger.

Seems like somebody tightened the plug too hard. Try drowning it in penetrating oil.

Is it the one behind the rad?
If so release the rad fixing bolts and rotate the rad forward to gi e you the space.
You may need a mate to support the rad to keep the pipes connected.
Good luck.

Probably a bit late but...there's a plastic heat shield behind the top of the radiator which is retained by three studs - two one side, one the other. Raise each stud's centre core with a thin flat screwdriver and remove the shield to the side and out of the frame (fiddly but do-able). That'll give you better access to the front l/plug. The original kit socket has to be j-u-s-t at the right angle for it to slip over the plug. There shouldn't be a need to move the rad in my experience if you have the Honda tool.

the front spark plug on the left hand side is the problem one the tool will drop the spark plug into the hole and the spark plug will be flat against the wall of the cylinder so dropping the tool to try and seat the spark plug is impossible its very hard to get it back out. don't bother make sure you have all the other 3 spark plugs in and with there caps boots or what ever they are called www.cmsnl.com/honda-ntv650-revere-1997-englandmkh_model3787/cap-noise-2-suppr_30701mf5000/#.U-vKEqPfGqMnow start the ignition the compression will lift the spark plug and make it sit up proud so you can drop the tool in and fit the spark plug i just replaced the valve rocker covers and cleaned my carbs the spark plugs and had to be removed a few times and it is the only way to do it
