And so it continues, I had to bump the bike yesterday (at 0430) upon arrival at the station yesterday afternoon she started on the button, after 10 miles I pulled over and had a 5min chat with a mate, no start-just the solenoid clicking-then it just about started recently I have had a new electrex reg/rec, I the batt on the optimate to be greeted with a glowing red(deep discharge)so I charged the spare batt over night and in the morning it was green, 13v with my mains testing multimeter(leads onn the little one broke) plugged it in and no start, bump again-arrived at the station and switched it off and tried to restart-click again- I`m going to borrow a hammer and screwdriver from work to persuade the starter motor to turn and see if its that and maybe replace the bushes any more ideas? I start nights next tuesday so I need it sorted by then Cheers Ray

hi ssray. if you have good spare fully charged battery, starter should operate. if the relay is clicking power is going to relay. try test on starter motor, with heavy duty wire direct from fully charged battery,to the feed to starter on relay. if it does not spin starter motor is at fault. bit of a worry that you are loosing volts in battery, old regulator may have seen battery off. is the bike charging when running,. if not could be stator generator fault,. when the starter is pressed a lot of power is sent to starter via relay, any small drop in battery volts will cause starter not turning over.. your fault could be just starter motor being lazy..any gurus can help ssray.??.. cheers the slug.
