how do i do this please ran engine this morning and battery bike off was 12,7v at idle was 14.4 turned it off - came to use it later and turned sluggish and then click so somethings either wrong or draining bike has one heated grip ;D the control box and wiring are now gone ta

Do a leakage test first. (A test to make sure battery isn't discharging more than it should). 1: Make sure ignition is OFF 2: Disconnect negative battery terminal lead. 3: Set an ammeter or multimeter to mA, connect negative probe to battery negative, and positive probe to battery positive. 4: If the reading is more than 0.1 mA there is a short circuit somewhere draining too much from battery when not in use.
Happened to me ages ago, thought it was a faulty reg/rec, but days later I did this found the short and problem solved. HTH

set it to μ on the one i have (yes?) - doesnt actually say on it and got nothing when set to all three settings RHS of the dial yes

That is actually micro (2000 thousandths graduated in thousandths... so 2 amp max), but the result you would be after would say anything lower than 100 on the screen. Long as the terminals are in the bottom 2 sockets and you get nothing, then there is no battery leakage, and not the cause of your problem.. Next step I would try is check and double check all connections and wires.
