Hi all,
Just a small update.
I have driven 4600 km since the restoration and the NTV is still running beautiful. "She" is my everyday ride to and from work, weekend trips and ROADRACING machine
I have just had a play day on a circuit in Denmark for the second time in my life. It's just so fun when a small and old NTV overtakes a newer CBR 1100 blackbird round the corners (we don't talk about the straight lines :-)
But unfortunately it started to rain in the second pass. We had been warned that if the track got wet it would get slippery due to all the tire rubber burnt into the tarmac.
I was in second place round the track, but in a left turn my front tire lost its grip with 50-60 km/h and I was laying on my back hoping nobody of the other riders would hit me on their way past…
I was staring at the rainclouds from the ground and hearing my NTV’s metal rubbing into the tarmac, but nothing happened to me
The NTV slid on the centerstand, left barend, left footrest and gear selector arm… and a little on my newly painted frame (also note the passenger foot rest at the gear selector arm)
I was so lucky nothing happened to me (little sore ankle and scratches on my hand) and almost nothing to my NTV. I will get over the scratches on the frame as the NTV is my “can do anything bike” and everyday bike, so these kind of things can unfortunately happen.
I straightened the gear selector with my tools afterwards, and moved one of the passenger footrests up, so I had something to rest my feet on while driving.. I felt kind of extra lucky when I found out that I now had a foot rest for my left foot while driving :-)
When I got home from the trackday last Saturday I straightened to gear selector arm, replaced the bulb in my left indicator and washed the bike… and I have been driving the NTV to work for the last two days, still loving “here”.
As a small side note, I was in full riding gear (incl. bag shield) and give that all the credit to my luck. I later found out that on the outer side of my ridingboots (where the protective plate is over the angle) there is a hole into the armor that saved my angle !! I thank my riding boots for doing their job and saving my left angle
I will still use my NTV every day to work, I will keep taking the NTV to the track, but I will also remember to wear my protection while doing it.
ps. in one month I will take the NTV on a weekend trip to Norway
