hi, managed to start bike.. today horray.
bike had been stood for about 10 months.
would not start unless tank taken off and
fuel tipped in carbs,, thanks for threads on here helped me a lot..
think two things were wrong that why bike would not start..
fuel pump not pumping. managed to get a second had deauville
pump off flea bay (18 pounds) not bad see how long it lasts.
checked fuel was getting to carbs by un hooking from carb feed
and extending fuel pipe to container approx 5 ft away with tank fitted.
always do this outside had bad experience before with fuel
on hot engine. pump was pushing fuel up well.. changed fuel in tank to good fresh stuff. stripped carbs fuel as one of threads on here very helpful.
found a lot of tarnish gum etc in carbs,. main thing stopped fuel was
small filters above floats. pilot circuit cleaned reset to original settings
on mine was 2 and a quarter turns. there were no small o rings on
these pilot screws dont know if they should be there can any one confirm for me. please.
put all together new plugs oil and filter. spark on plugs seemed fine..
started up and away to go.. lot of popping and banging first the
semed to run ok no bad noises from engine.. idle ran for
approx 5 mins.. radiator seemed to boil into coolant bottle.and out of overflow.
stopped engine then let cool down .. restared llater seemed fine that time.
running well no overheating.. thought maybe thermostat had stuck then
freed itself.. any one have any tips on checking pump or a way
of checking water in radiator is circulating?..
starts now with a couple of spins on starter button.. great..
now working on break calipers.. any on know if shims for
front caliper and back are the same missing off back caliper..
sorry for all the questions but only a back street messer with bikes..
will post photo when i get chance,.. cheers lads the slug..
