I've been tinkering with the little girl for a few months now, few little mods here & there. There's a on-going thread showing what I've achieved so far: Ongoing project (never ending)A big change is a happening which involves a whole front-end swap. Hence this new thread to show exactly what I'm doing if any-one is mad enough to attempt it. This is a set of forks from a '92 GSX-R1100, with 2x twin-pot nissins, braided hoses & master cylinder to match & a '88 GSX-R750 18" front-wheel. There's also a front-fender (not shown) which is going to be covered in carbon-fibre vinyl-wrap. The plan is to swap the whole front-end with the (almost) original Revere unit. There's several parts to this including: - New taper bearings, wheel bearings, new tyre & pads. - Top-yoke conversion to attach 7/8" risers for my straight-bar mod (see project thread) - The wheel & forks don't match so a new spindle is being made with new spacers & speedo-drive. Also the calipers & disks don't quite match so a set of custom off-set brackets are to be made. - Plus the bracketry for the '08 GSX-R1000 headlight mod (see project thread), bracketry for the single-speedo unit & brackets for the dual-horn mounts.

I spent the day at the bike engineers today to gain some progress on this conversion.
I'm encountering problem after problem.
- On the 3rd set of head-bearings (previous ones didn't fit) to match up the new yokes with the frame - 3rd time lucky & got got the correct fitments now (with new shims)
- The steering-stem was too short to fit the frame - so that's currently being extended
- The new rotors were to small to fit the calipers & there are no other fitments on the market to fit the 5-stud pattern being 310mm diameter - so a conversion plate is being made with the correct off-set
- The original ignition barrel doesn't fit - so converted the replacement 2x switch live unit to fit the 3-pin Honda unit.
- The 18" front wheel has a 15mm spindle whilst the forks require 20mm - so positive locating spacers were made up
So far - this is NOT a simple 'swap-over' & requires skillful engineering at every turn.
Positives:
- New wavy rotors/disks (x2) are on order - Twin 4-pot nissin calipers have been stripped, with new seals & pads - New tires have arrived "Avon Storm 2 Ultra's"

Why are you going UP in wheel diameter, it`ll turn in slower than the stocker being 17".

They do look good though.

Why are you going UP in wheel diameter, it`ll turn in slower than the stocker being 17". The new tyre has a lower profile, so the overall diameter, compared to the original, is the same. Pus I wanted to something different which wasn't a deuville or a cbr

The GSX-R1100 steering stem was too short, so this was chopped in half and extended by 18mm. A solid slug was inserted in the gap, welded up, ground-down, now the stem is the right size - sorry I don't have pics of this as it was a very quick process at the engineers whilst I was still stuck in the re-wiring the new front-end is now on. The new 'wavy' disks should arrive soon & the risers are still in the mill - updates will be coming soon

Have you had to mod the frame?
Or will it be possible to move this between bikes?

Have you had to mod the frame? Or will it be possible to move this between bikes? I/we had the discussion that the frame is to stay exactly standard (due to UK SVA/MOT requirements), If other people are thinking of putting this front-end on, then a set of replacement race-bearings to match the inside diameter of the NTV frame & the steering stem will have to be found - I'll post up the part number when I next visit the engineers. Plus the steering stem modification I previously mentioned above. If this bike ever (hopefully not) gets sold or broken, then I've done all the mods to fit straight onto an existing Revere or NTV frame. I'm using 'Mazchopz' to make the adjustments. (If allowed, I'll post thier website link). They'll be more than happy to discuss & make/modify these parts to fit your bike. This front-end, plus tyre, rotors, caliper, yoke, speedo, etc, etc so far has cost me more than the bike. It was designed from the outset to be a replacement part so the original can always go back on.

I was not aware of the MOT angle but I like the resulting flexibility. Thanks for keeping us up to date with your project.

1st (mill) cut of the new risers & positioned with the MKII handlebar to check for clearances & where to skim off the excess to match the lines of the top yoke.

Some more shiny, shiny bits came in last nite - the most expensive bike purchase I've ever made: Painted up the calipers to match the colour scheme: Should be putting all the bits together soon, the front-end transformation is 'nearly' there

Just 'cos I'm a tease, here's the wheel, callipers & new disks all mounted up. Not long to go now, just need to finish the risers, put new steering stops on and bolt the switch gear back on.

That's going to be a good looking front end.

Looking good, but do you have any higher resolution images. I downloaded it to try and zoom in but it is not high enough resolution to do this.
Cheers Roger.
