Hello everyone
i have a 95 ntv fitted with an after market screen and at speeds or around 40-65mph i get wobble from the front end (like speed wobble but not as bad) am i right in thinking this is caused by the screen?. has anyone else had this problem? and does anyone know if there is a steering dampener available on the market as i think that would eliminate the problem/let me keep the screen =] thanks joe

Are you sure it's the screen causing the wobble ?? and what make of screen is it ?

This may sound obvious, but I think the way to tell is to remove the screen and try a run out to see if that is the root cause. I would do nothing else until that point. If you still have shake without the screen then you can look elsewhere (tyres, steering, brakes etc.)

I am happy to ride no hands at most speeds so I would also agree that I also can't see it being the screen.
Slow and syatematic parts removal seems the order of the day.
Good luck, interested to hear what you find.

I have a screen fitted (small Puig flyscreen) & it doesn't cause any wobble at any speed.
However, I do get a wobble at certain speeds if I have my top box fitted (doesn't matter how much is in the box so it's aerodynamic effects).
Also, check your tyre pressures, tyres, wheel bearings, wheel balance front & rear, head bearings, etc.
Yes there are universal steering dampeners, you'd have to bolt on a bit of bracketry to fit them. Suggest looking at the cause first though rather than trying to fix it this way, although the NTV/Revere does benefit over rough surfaces with a steering dampener.

seen headstock bearing that were worn showing more signs of wear when a screen was on a bike, the varying drag from different wind directions made the wobble, these were bad bearing though

The topcase might cause a wobble. My V-strom had a permanent wobble so i never rode that with hands of the bars.....to scary It had quite a large topbox. However....my NTV has a smaller topbox, a small screen (the puig one) and hasn't had any problems with speed wobbles.....unless the front tyre was completely worn. Check the balance on the front wheel....that would be my first thing to do (and soon I'll be able to do so myself )

top box is likely i'd say - mine doesn't wobble, but it feels a bit floaty with the top box on (Givi 47 litre jobbie) compared to totally planted with it off.

Had the tyres changed and wheels balanced witch has stoped all the wobble , there is a slight waggy feeling when doing about 55ish but thats down to the top box , not serious enought to cause a problem tho ^^

Good to hear you have it fixed.
When I first fitted my top box it took me a while to get used to slow riding, they do nasty things the the bikes center of gravity. That said now I am used to it I like it better than wearing a rucksack.

I used all kinds of screens. Oscillations steering I had no! Causes for wobbling: -tires / wheels / bearings -oil unequal in telescopes -insufficient fork tight -steering bearings
