So, water still sprays out of the bike, mainly from the rear cylinder head gasket. New gasket arrived today but I've used the bike so it'll have to cool before I replace that gasket. A job for a Saturday methinks, but it may have to wait.
Other jobs still to be done are painting the rest of the frame, filling & painting the tank, fitting the horribly bright HID lights & ballasts, refitting the flyscreen, sticking some white LED strips on the front somewhere (possibly on the forks).

OK, put the new rear cylinder head gasket on & seems to be running fine so far, will check valve clearances again after maybe 1000 miles.
Also fitted the HIDeous headlight conversion kit, not tried it at night yet but in daytime can see the beams clearly enough to have checked them & they're looking good. Dip & Main both work as they should as per the kit. Ballast etc., is stuffed in near the front coil & feed to battery goes down the right side along with the main loom.

Sounds like you are making good progress. Even dry weather to work / ride with the extension on summer

Afraid I'm a bit of a wimp, I don't like working in the direct sun as I tend to overheat due to so much head hair.

I don't like working in the direct sun as I tend to overheat due to so much head hair. I always though the hair acted as an insulator I don't have too much hair myself at the top end & I can't stay in the sun very long without a cap or similar on my head. GvS

Jet black hair (so it doesn't show the oil from the bike rebuild). Absorbs so much heat if out in the sun.

I work for a motor factors, who can make aerosol paints etc, but they cant get hold of the formula for this particular paint. Help please if possible. Cheers Derek

Hi Derek, for what it's worth; I believe the NTV frame colour to be: - "Saturn Silver Metallic." Dupont have a Saturn Silver coded; 'F0189 M1699 A082B6339F' Hope it may be of help. RS Bike Paint Model colours for NTV600K; (Assuming a 1989 production year.) www.rsbikepaint.com/en-gb/colours.php#makeid=63&modelid=1868&prodyear=1989 (Change the search to 'NTV650' & '1993' onward for:- 'Gentle Silver Metallic Frame colour')
