Mr MOT man (back in May) mentioned in passing (no advisories) that I'd maybe "overdone the WD40 anti-pit protection" on the fork legs, so I figured it was time to think about replacements. Dust seals have seen better days, and what's with the dubious looking liquid coating? Ahhhh - old fork oil/ATF, or is it mayo? Oh dear [ insert Deity of choice here] what a mess: No, that hasn't been mullered by a screwdriver, that's the state the seal was in: As an aside - see all the writing on the new seal, that goes uppermost, OK? Genuine Honda replacements only - had aftermarkets before and they just don't last After a 50 mile bedding in run - no oozing, job done Nice clean 10W Fork oil in these puppies now, none of yer ATF for me, bootiful smooth ride over our billiard table smooth crappy potholed roads. Next job - where's me Fuel 'zorst (next weekend maybe?) ....

Afternoon Kirriepete, have some more karma for a quality post and a free beer for the club fridge. 10W oil interesting I was talking oil weight with Skyhook last weekend as I think mine is 7.5 and Sky was saying he has a mix of 7.5 and 10 on his Yam. The fork protectors look neat. I am tempted with a pair of those then add some reflective tape on the front. As a variant on a GvS mod. I think I may up mine next time, because as GvS posted today our roads are not the best! What weight do the rest of you use??

Im changing my seals soon and wondering if people had any good recommendations on forks oils.
