Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place as technicly it's not a restoration, just a tidy up. Anyway for the last 5 years or so my poor old girl has looked like the top two photos Now Finally I have got a Luggage rack for her Yaaaay Also on the list of things that will be done shortly are: Replacement seat (got a few small tears that'll vinyl bond) Replacement Diff And new Mirrors And then I'll finally give her her first ever wash then once she's clean I can paint the wheels so they match ;D More Piccies to follow Andi (who is in a Shed load of pain after fitting the rack) On Another note I seem to be collecting NTV bits so these are free to a good home:Front Forks (Chrome is completely gone to hell, but you could have them rebuilt without losing to many days off the road) Standard Exhaust Silencer (Bought from a breaker as a standard NTV can, But I believe it is in fact a Bros/Hawk Can) As I say these are free to a good home, All I ask is you pay the P&P if you don't want to collect from me in Deepest Darkest Essex

Restoration section is just fine with me. Lets face it work on most 20 year old bikes is restoration. It may be worth reposting your parts in the for sale section, if only free + postage. She is looking much better with the rack. All the best. Rj.

Hiya
I'm crying out for a rear silencer as I have a race can at the moment and she is very loud and not likely to get through the MOT! what kind of postage would the silencer attract do you think?
Regards Fan

Regards Fan Hammer I want to make it clear that the exhaust is NOT a UK spec NTV part (even though it was sold to me as one). I suspect that it is a 400Bros exhaust as I couldn't get it on to my downpipes at all when I tried to fit it (hence the fact it's sitting in my shed). Also you will be looking at parcel weighing in the region of 10-15Kg so the postage won't be cheap. I am happy to post it to someone that can use it as long as they go in with their eye's open to the fact that I don't know what bike it is for but I do know that if you have a NTV600/650 I CAN tell you it WON'T fit (not without some help from a welder). If you are still interested (or anyone else for that matter) PM me your postcode and I'll be able to use the Parcelfarce website to give you a better idea of postage. Andi

Well here's an update for you all. The new mirrors, seat & Diff have arrived, Mirrors and seat have now been fitted ;D Mirrors: Rack/Seat And how she looks overall Next up is the Diff I've also won a nice set of indicators off ebay so they'll be going on as well when they turn up. Yes yes I know they're yamaha but I've always liked the design and these are the chrome ones off the XJR so should add a bit of bling Next update once the diff is on and the wheels are painted (although I can't decide on silver or dark silver for them at the mo.) Hi All, If any of you are following my little tidy up of my bike here's another piccie for ya. Fitted my new indicators today so the old girl now likes this: Although you can't see it the back wheel now matches the front. (and a like titbit for anyone that may need it, Halfords Dark Silver wheel paint is an almost perfect match for the standard dark silver colour) For anyone that saw my urgent help post I've sprayed/fitted the left hand bar that Outlaw very kindly sent me and also sprayed the RH bar and fuse cover as well so they all match This just leaves me the new diff to fit once I get it back from the mechanic (brought off ebay as not leaking ...... rofl not leaking I disagree) and the Rickman panniers that I got off ebay for a tenner Thats it for now Andi P.S. The bungey holding the topbox shut will finally be retired in a few days as I found some catches on a classic car site. Oh and I still can't decide whether to paint the topbox black to match the panniers or vice-a-verser.

She is looking better with each update. Amazing what a little TLC will do for a bike. I sprayed my fuse box a couple of years back, it makes a big difference to the look forward when you are sat on the bike. The nonails to the inside of the fuse box corners I added to mine has also prevented corner cracking which killed my last fuse box lid. Black panniers and top box would look better but white would stand out more. You could have some fun and go for an all white bike. Cars move out of the way, lots of fun. I used to ride a full faired white CG125 round town, many a grin way has as car driver grabbed for seat belts etc

No real updates this time, just felt like posting some more piccies ;D As to RJs comment about TLC more like bl***y hard graft and a lot of Beer tokens (scroll down for a breakdown of money spent) Work done / BT spent Replacement Front wheel = 99p off Ebay, £20 in paint to match the back to the front (never did like the white wheels) New mirrors = £20 Seat = £15 Diff = £40 + £80 to have rebuilt Rack = £50 Panniers = £10 (still to be fitted) Indicators = £45 + Fancy clear lenses £14 + Fancy bulbs £12 (still waiting for the rear lenses to arrive) NS footpeg + NS handlebar + NS handlebar Barend inner fittings = £50 (golly that was an expensive drop ) Brackets to mount indicators = Free obtained the DGS (answers on a postcard please hehe) I think that about covers it for this tidy up session, Of course last year I had the forks rebuilt by AllBike Engineering in Greenwich with new stanchions who gave a very impressive 3hr turnaround for just over £200. And the winter before last (09/10) I had to replace the rear tyre and battery, I can't remember what make the battery is but has given no probs at all but I can say I highly rate the Avon Roadrider tyre I fitted, I got it for about 20quid less that a Bridgestone (about £60 if memory serves) and since fitting it I've rode in all weathers and it hasn't given me a single cause for concern (the same can be said for the conti I've got on the front but that came with the replacement wheel (yes I got a wheel & tyre for 99p ) Thats about it for now. Definitely RJ, I wouldn't hesitate to use them again (and probably will do when either the disks warp or Mr MOTman says "ya disks are too thin" (Although that might be awhile as I have a spare of both (F+R))

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place as technicly it's not a restoration, just a tidy up. A restoration is surely just a tidy up, but perhaps goes a bit further than you have? The aim is to have the bike etc in a better condition when you have finished than when you started and you have certainly achieved that, so take pride in your work! aNTy is certainly looking nice. I think I'd go for black panniers and top box. They may look a little more prominent, but that effect is mainly going to be from behind or the side. I'm pleased to report that my winter project is complete and my new mighty Pan is back on the road. A few test rides last week, including one with the General riding shotgun. Made my first commute to the south yesterday. 320 miles grin laden miles in beautiful weather, it was great to be back on two wheels again. New exhaust sounds beautiful and there will be photos and video to follow ;D

Who needs a Pan when you can have a Revere. Ok if I Had Mcf's commute a Pan it would be. Back on topic, tidy job on the top box. Thinking about you new indicator a pair of those with clear bulbs minus the flasher could make interesting additional front lights. Thoughts anyone?

I have also thought about using them as daytime running lights, The problem as I see it is you would need 21w bulbs for them to be bright enough and then you are at risk of the lenses/shells melting/warping.
Of course if you happen to be a clever bugger you could use LEDs and then they could be both DRL & indicators (this is going to be a later project for me)
As to your comment about who needs a Pan, It would be nice to have another one for the legroom it would give me.
