Addendum on the sound - saw Number 1 Son at the edge of the village I live in and pulled over for a chat. I asked him to listen to the bike as I went for a full-chat takeoff and run then text me with his impression. Here's the full text I received:
"Awesome. Just f'king awesome!"

I thought you would be pleased. One thing I have noticed is that on open roads with my ear plugs in. They seem to cut out high pitch noise and highlight low notes which I think sounds better than without.

I did a baffle-out day earlier this week. Lovely and fruity, but as has been commented, a bit anti-social, especially at 0615 when I go out to work. I put the baffle back in, and to be honest I prefer it like that, a bit more refined, yet still fruity.

Now a few of you have fitted these FUEL cans, has anybody noticed a drop in petrol consumption ?

I hadn't measured consumption first, the closest I've got was 140 miles from full and I hadn't had to go to reserve - that was after fitting the Fuel exhaust. Now I've changed the plugs and got much smoother running I'm going to try a full run and see what I get out of it. I am just coming to the end of a can of Seafoam additive which I've been popping a bit of in with every fillup, to clean deposits out of the engine. No idea if it works but the reviews are good and after 67k miles there are probably deposits that need clearing out. I'm changing the coolant this afternoon as it gets a bit hot, but erratically, possibly indicating some dirt and gunge in the coolant. If the state of the oil, air filter and plugs when I changed them are anything to go by, the colling system will probably have all sorts of nonsense in it

On my trip to Spain cpl years ago I was getting 200miles to a full tank before reserve, The most i did after switching to reserve was 35miles and that was full load up pillon plus camping etc.
Also did moterway speeds most of the time, 65-75mph.
So 200 miles between fill ups was the norm only twice switching to reserve 30 miles first time 35 the second, would not say much more than 40 miles on reserve just to be safe..
On avg over here on a day to day running 50 to 55 mpg was the norm.
Hope this helps.

I run a Motad exhaust, & always go up to about 220 miles before filling up. I have never switched over to reserve. It works out about 64mpg doing mainly motorway miles. I guess I should be happy !

hi all,
i think i have posted this before, when i was running a standard motad can i was getting about 180-185 miles to reserve. add the reserve and it would be in the region of 220 miles to a full tank.
Since putting the oval fuel can on the bike any difference has been negligable. still get upwards of 180 miles to reserve. but i do tend to be abit over enthusiatic on the throttle so if i were to back off i might get more. but thats boring...........
take it easy ed

I'm going to do some full tank mileages soon when I've finished the seafoam treatment, in case it alters things. I shall report back.

Due to the growth of the forum and the effort involved, I am no longer offering to manage the 10% discount codes for fuel exhausts.
Kind Regards Rj2para.
