Looking to pop a centre stand on wee Norman The Valiant as I get a bit nervous with it wobbling about on a collection of jacks & blocks of wood whenever I need a wheel off. Suggestions from the massed brains as to where to procure such a device would be appreciated - already spotted this one at WEMoto, any good or should I cast my net wider?

I had the same problem until i bought and Abba stand: www.abbastands.co.uk/product_details.asp?id=1Got mine for £70 on ebay a year ago. £15 for a fitting kit from Abba. Cheaper than any main stand kit I could find. And the best thing is, you only need to get a new fitting kit if you ever change bike. I really like it, easy to put onto the bike and sturdy. My dainty girlfriend can easily raise the front wheel pushing on the grab rail as it connects to the swinging arm pivot nuts.

The Wemoto stand looks fine, but I'd be curious about the extension for your foot to stand on to deploy the stand - it looks pretty long to me.
Have you considered a paddock stand?

McF & jup - had considered all sorts of variations on paddock stands, but then the paranoid half of me whispered gently in my (good) ear: "Puncture in the middle of nowhere, whaddyagonnado?"
GvS - like the look of the 40 euro one - do you know if he ships to the UK? If he does, how much? I'd ask direct but my Dutch is .... well .... non-existant, and I don't trust online translators (ever tried making Health & Safety notices in Polish?). Of course, if he'll accept enquiries in English then I'm sorted.
All help accepted gratefully.

But since I'm a regular customer ( ), he'd let me have €5 discount. So total would be around €55. But I have a feeling that you're already sorted. I can't compete with an offer of getting one for free. GvS

didn't spot this earlier - good one ;D McF & jup - had considered all sorts of variations on paddock stands, but then the paranoid half of me whispered gently in my (good) ear: "Puncture in the middle of nowhere, whaddyagonnado?" . Exactly - whaddyagonnado when you have aNTy nicely balanced on her centre stand, you can sit and admire her while waiting for the nice breakdown recovery service to come and sort you out. Unless of course you carry a big device to break the bead on the tyres, some tyre levers and an air compressor with you as well as the puncture repair kit (electric drill with drills and abrader, vulcanising solution, rubber mushrooms and the tool to pull them through). I do often carry a tin of instant repair, but the last puncture I had was a slit and the tin would not have worked - needed a new tyre . Seriously though, I do agree it's best to have a centre stand on, but that's more for home maintenance, washing and when I park in public areas (I'm paranoid about someone knocking her off the side stand) Sounds like you have a good offer there from WCS1 - snap his hands off! You will need to remove the exhaust to fit the stand so think about ordering new seals for the pipe to cylinder head and for the header pipe to silencer. It might cost a few bob, but it will make the job a lot easier and they're bound to get disturbed while you're working

I do often carry a tin of instant repair, but the last puncture I had was a slit and the tin would not have worked - needed a new tyre . I was thinking more along the lines of - wheel off, cadge a lift to nearest town, sort tyre, cadge lift back, but that's coz I'm simple (so the missus says). I used to carry a can of Finilec everywhere, then one day I used it on the car and never replaced it - didn't work that well anyway, and what the guy said at the tyre fitters when he saw the mess ... not suitable for a family site such as this! Sounds like you have a good offer there from WCS1 - snap his hands off! I have, but he seems to have disappeared, maybe lost in the shed trying to find the stand? Yoohoo, wcs1, where are you? You will need to remove the exhaust to fit the stand so think about ordering new seals for the pipe to cylinder head and for the header pipe to silencer. It might cost a few bob, but it will make the job a lot easier and they're bound to get disturbed while you're working It's got a Moturd on, should be able to remove the tailpipe without disturbing the headers, then use the old CX collector box seal trick of exhaust paste/bandage and tin foil....

I am looking for a centre stand for my anTy and I found a used one here ( cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190453250938&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en) from a NT650V Deauville. Anyone here knows if it fits the NTV 650 ? At first sight it shows little to none difference to the one on the MCF link ( www.stoeretassen.nl/My_NTV650/Middenbok/Centre_stand.htm). I took a look at Honda Electronic Parts Catalog and the part number for the NTV650 centre stand is 50500-MS9-750. Looking for the part in www.cmsnl.com it tells me that the part has been superseded by part number 50500-MBL-610 which is exactly the part number for the NT650V Deauville, according to the Honda Electronic Parts Catalog v15, which leads me to think that it will probably fit well on the NTV too. Another thing is that my NTV does not have the stubby exhaust with the muffler, it has an aftermarket Arrow Exhaust. Since there is a rubber damper on the original collector box (muffler) which I dont have, can this be a problem ? Anyone here with an aftermarket exhaust and a main centre-stand ? What do you think ? Thanks

It's normal to create a centrestand stop when using aftermarket exhaust (some come with them). The deauville one should fit I think as that part of the frame wasn't altered for the first deauville (afaik)

Update:
Bad news - wcs1 seems to have disappeared off the face of the planet .... not logged in since that last post up there ^^^ ...... ?
Good news - spotted a stand on a frame being flogged on evilbay, emailed the seller and asked if he could whip the stand off for a separate sale (cheap!) .... it arrived Saturday in remarkably good condition, but I'm still going to give it a coat or two of Hammerite before nailing it on. Also looking at the mounting points on the frame there seems to be more than a trifling amount of Fe2O3 along with 15 years accumulated shite crap detritus, so that'll be getting the wire brush & Hammerite treatment first. Same as Cyphron with the rubber bung/aftermarket 'zorst issue, so I'll be experimenting with a variety of rubber doorstops and the like (see Note), maybe photos to follow, if I can be arsed remember
Note - message to all wives - all that crap in coffee jars/biscuit tins etc will come in handy one day, see?

I bought a centrestand for my aunTy and since I have an aftermarket exhaust (no muffler) with no centrestand stop (I checked it), I am curious about what happens if I could not manage to find a way of stopping the stand... Will it hit the drive shaft on the left or the exhaust itself ? Reaching such higher position can cause other problems or interfere with something else ? Any experiences here ?
If it hits the shaft or the exhaust itself, maybe I can glue some rubber on the point where the stand stops.
Any suggestions ?
I will try to fit the stand first and then I show you the result. Let's pray for an easy solution ...
